These images were taken in January 2009 on a long weekend in Paris, where I decided to tackle a city in my usual manner of getting lost and hoping I would stumble across something worth seeing. Though having visited Paris on numerous occasions in the past I did revisit some favourite areas - the long way round, as well as nursing overpriced espressos whilst reading my book, treating myself to a platter of shellfish, successfully watching an American film dubbed into French at the cinema, and returning to Glasgow relatively unscatched despite having picked up some sort of 12 hour vomitting virus. Paris being such an over-photographed and over romanticised city I tried my best to capture it as I saw it, showing the Paris we are, mostly, all aware of, but without producing images that we have all seen before.
